Fern said (permaculture Digest, Vol 55, Issue 4):- Permaculture is a profession, and as a profession it is best to have a representative body.
Paul Cereghino said (permaculture Digest, Vol 54, Issue 30):- "The critical step in a movement however is making everyone into designers -- the path back to stewardship of land -- "
I think Paul's comment here is close to the mark if Permaculture Principles are to ever pervade & form the basis of a "Permanent" Culture.
Scott Pittman said (permaculture Digest, Vol 54, Issue 34):- "Permaculture is more a way of relating to the world than it is limiting ones professional life. It is also a language of design that addresses all aspects of human endeavour. Perhaps architecture is a garnish on the full plate of permaculture."
Yes and perhaps overemphasis on the "Professionalization of Permaculture" will limit the full plate of Permaculture being fully realized as it seems to be predicated on a belief that Permaculture is something that others can do for you.
Questions:-
What is the role is envisaged for the "Professionalization of Permaculture" in the longer term?
Or is it just a transitional thing?
