This is a report from Omaha which had the same 17 degree temperatures. All my stuff that is zone 3 like golden currents and saskatoons didn't know anything had happened. The zone 4 stuff has made it with only the loss of some leaves (including oaks and sycamores). However, just a few of the apricot, cherry, peach, pear, and plum bloom has made fruit. I won't have a good idea on the apples for a week yet. The black walnut and filbert nut set looks bad. The persian walnuts will take a couple of weeks before I know. The zone 5 stuff, persimmons, paw-paws, and blackberries are too young to tell much at this time. The figs are growing from cuttings taken in Alabama and were indoor plants this year.

I recommend that cuttings and starts be taken every year from the blackberries and figs as a backup measure. And, of course, all my stuff is grown from seed (except the figs).
