OCTOBER, NOVEMBER, DECEMBER 2005 & JANUARY, FEBRUARY & MARCH 2006
Each PART has two weekends
PART ONE October 8 & 9 and November 12-13 2005
Fire, Water, Earth & Air... New Ecology and Indicators of Sustainability:
Introduction to Permaculture and Natural Pattern Understanding
The first two weekends will cover an in-depth introduction to
Permaculture Design & Ethics of Earth Care with a special
presentation on reading the patterns of the landscape. A simple
foundation for understanding indicators of sustainability and other
patterns of the natural world. Students will learn to apply patterns
found in nature to green-development and design.
PART TWO December 10 & 11 2005 and January 14 & 15 2006
Food, Water, Shelter & Energy... Earth-Friendly Techniques:
Sustainable Resource Management, Building the Home Ecosystem.
The second part will focus on practical techniques for designing,
remodeling & building The HomeEcosystem... a complete green home and
garden. Also, alternative energy & fuels, restorative agriculture and
natural building, as well as learning ancient techniques for earth
stewardship and land restoration will be examined. Information
intensive with resources, referrals and some hands on opportunities.
PART THREE February 11 & 12 and March 11 & 12 2006
Creating Community... Eco-Urbanism and Eco-Economics:
EcoVillage Design and Community Celebration
The final sessions will feature: community building & "creating a
sense of place," patterns of human dynamics, intentional communities
& eco-villages. We will also learn strategies for creating
community-wide sustainability and methods for finding our own
right-livelihoods. Final Design Team presentations and awards.
Plus -Community Celebration with the infamous Trade and Talent show!

pushing new and under used ideas for landscape and architecture into

Other venues will take us in and around Los Angeles.

Design Exercises, Observation Skills, Innovative Gardening, Natural
Building, Sustainable Landscape Construction, Art in the Garden &
NEW & EXPANDED CURRICULUM
This course meets all requirements for Certification and also
includes new and expanded material including: Peak Oil/Energy
Decline, Natural Building with Cob, Straw, Earthbags, Bamboo,
Alternative Fuels, Human Dynamics, Deep Ecology, Eco-Urbanism,

Each weekend is designed to build on what we have learned in the
previous sessions -but any day can be easily attended on its own.
Full attendance is required for Certification.
$90.00 per day
$175.00 per weekend
$950.00 for all six weekends -Early Registration discount of $50 if
