Re kudzu and other annoyances -- How many people reading these postings realize that kudzu is here mainly because of the USDA's introducing and popularizing it early in the 1900s? Our knowledge base has increased substantially since then, but absolute control over foreign plants and absolute control over pathogens in general along with indigenous mutating and hybridizing species--can never be complete. It is time for reasonable efforts however--and the fact that the USDA has asked for input on the matter makes me very hopeful indeed. We're talking about a government agency and bureaucracy being responsive to the governed.

I offer this In case the novelty wasn't recognized for what it is.
