I have to correct myself. The reverse of 'Scythinica', though described as blue
by all the authorities and by myself in the quoted message, is actually a blue-
purple.

Our local rock garden club's show is on this weekend, and I entered a group of
"three rock garden plants in the same genus", choosing Anemone appenina 'Alba',
Anemone blanda 'Scythinica', and Anemone nemorosa 'Phyllodic form'. The A.
appenina and A. blanda are quite similar in appearance, but with the two in
close conjunction, it's clear that A.a.'s reverse is a true blue, while A.b.'s
has a distinct purplish tinge.

And while I'm at it, what color is the reverse of Anemone blanda 'White
Splendor'?
