I reported new root growth in Fritillaria imperialis recently, and at that
time mentioned that F. raddeana had not shown signs of root growth.

The bulb of F. raddeana was checked today and found to have new roots about
an inch long. Both species have spent the summer out of the ground and
wrapped in newspaper in the basement.

Also showing signs of life: Gymnospermium altaicum is sprouting. This too
was stored dry wrapped in newspaper.
