Cypripedium kentuckiense, parviflorum ssp. pubescens and parviflorum ssp.
parviflorum grow very well here. C. acaule would grow if I could keep the
substrate sufficiently acid (artificially). The Chinese species, European
species and those from the mid-west and western USA are a disaster - they
hate our hot and humid summers. Those pictured on my web site survived at
most 2-3 years after flowering. Some of the
pubescens/parviflorum/kentuckiense hybrids with the 'easier' Chinese species
will probably do OK.
Best,
J.
