I have seen flowering plants with considerably smaller bulbs, also
seed-grown and maybe a little less than 10 years old. They are in the ground
in sun in well-drained soil. On the other hand I have a seedling of the form
from Port Elizabeth (+/- evergreen) and it has hardly put on weight in 10
years (in a small pot). I hope you get some seeds!
