Dear All,
The responses have inspired me.
Colchicum are weeks gone, but were not especially good this year.
I have reported earlier about the poor and fitful Lycoris
season, alas.
What 'perked' my eyes was Jim Mc 's report of Biarum
tenuifolium. I've grown it for years and it multiplies a bit, but it
has never bloomed. The foliage is up and looks healthy. I suspect it
is somewhat marginal, but it has grown well. What can I be omitting
from to make it happy enough to bloom.?
Appreciate any comments. Does anyone else grow this
in a cold climate and get bloom ?
Sternbergias, always a bit iffy here have nearly been
eliminated from a few too many climatic extremes. A few bulbs are up
with foliage, but flowers seem doubtful.
And almost all Arillate/Oncocyclus iris have begun to show
some 'life' and pushing leaves. It is some relief to see them again
and know they haven't disappeared over the summer.
I appreciate all the commentaries.
Thanks a lot Jim W.
