Hi all
I'm wondering if anybody could possibly help with the identification of
two South African geophytes that I've collected this year.
Any ideas as to what species of crinum grows in the coastal areas of
Sodwana Bay, KwaZulu Natal, South Africa? I vaguely remember seeing
flowers a few years ago and pink as the predominant colour seems to
spring to mind. They grow in sand of beach sand consistency but the ones
I found were growing about 2km inland. The leaves are quite long and
broad and don't taper and they grow singly or in small scattered groups.
The gladiolus corms I collected were from plants growing along the road
leading to the cable car on the slopes of Table Mountain in March of
this year. There seemed to be many plants scattered along the slopes. The
interesting thing about the cormlets is that there are axillary and were
borne along the along the flowering stems of the plant. Unfortunately
there were no flowers to be seen though.
Thanks for any help
Regards
