Dear all,
Curious indeed the differences between Paul and Mary Sue's
Ornithogalum.

>Paul said	"Ornithogalum dubium (yellow form) I have sail
>through -8 or -9'C without a
>problem....... I....wouldn't be without the yellow dubium. "

This is hardier than most places give, but far from the
hardiness of North Temperate species.

But what is this "Yellow" dubium". The Ornithogalum page
shows a yellow hybrid

	http://www.pacificbulbsociety.org/pbswiki/index.php/Ornithogalum

and the S. African Ornith page shows a yellow O. dubium.

	http://www.pacificbulbsociety.org/pbswiki/index.php/SouthernAfricanOrnithogalum#secundum

as well as the yellow O. multifolium (and Ornithogalum
graminifolium said to have yellow, white or pink flowers).

Still wonder if anyone has tried to hybridize the S. African
colored-flower forms with any of the white northern species. Is there
some potential there for improved color in these easy to grown
northern bulbs?

Seems like there is a range of colors from orange to pink to
yellow and my mental picture of these blended with white is very
intriguing. Is this all a pipe dream or has anyone ever tried
hybridizing within the wider elements of the genus.?

			Best Jim W.

ps Sorry John, I'm not a fan of green flowers. Not an improvement
over white. Curious yes, but.....
