The New York Times had an article in "Science Times" yesterday about a 2" bat
with a 3.3" tongue that is apparently endemic to the western slopes of the
Andes in Ecuador (Anoura fistulata). A putative nectar source identified in
the article was a species of campanulata with a long corolla (Centropogon
nigricans) that is found only in the bat's range. I wonder if there is a
colocalization of this bat with Pamianthe peruviana. Peru is the neighbor to
Ecuador's south.
