Dear members,
We had an extra ordinary warm autumn here in western Europe; many plants
are reacting outof the their normal pattern. Outside in the ground Muscari
macrocarpum (in the ground outside) in flower since 2 weeks. (normally
late march) Hedychium coronarium flavescens in flower (normally August
September), Amarine andTulbaghia violacea still blooming. Day temperatures
are around freezing, but during the day bright sunshine. And flowering
seems not be be affected for the moment. On the other hand Dahlia imperialis
and Gladiolus daleni flowering is finished well ahead of normal schedule.
It would be interesting to hear if this is the normal pattern in more
southern régions, such as the south of Italy, Spain or Southern California.
After having seen Al Gore's film it could be taken as an immediate proof
of what is predicted. Or just an coincidence?
Greetings from sunny south of France, rather pleasant, but with slightly
uneasy feeling
