Dear all;
I wonder why no one has mentioned C. giganteum var
yunnanensis which must be the foliage 'King' of the genus. As I
recall it has rich deep green foliage with mahogany red petioles and
stalk. Foliage shines with a lustrousness.Newly emerging foliage has
a bronze-purple sheen. Same huge stalk and flowers.
I first saw this in Sichuan climbing a mountain there. Just
came on it in a clearing and almost fell over. Gorgeous foliage and
form reminded me of a tropical Alocasia (Aroid).
Surely this must be available somewhere. Can't grow it here,
but wish I could. It is a beauty.
