Hi,
I had a single bulb of Alophia drummondii bloom this month. It likes sandy
soil, very sandy conditions. I have had a few in the yard (they are native
to this area), but they don't survive long unless they are in the worst
soil--they don't seem to like too much humus. The flower is astonishingly
beautiful, purple with a yellow center and dark spots--and very orchid-like
in shape. The problem is that it emerges in the a.m. and is gone by 2:00
p.m. unless the day is very cool.

Cordially,
Conore Joe
