Jim W. and all,
Calochortus luteus 'Golden Orb' had been surviving and blooming here quite
well for a few years. Tehn this past winter was really cold (USDA zone 5
sort of cold) and very wet; instead of blooming this year, there are two or
three spindly hoots coming up where 'Golden Orb' is growing.
I might mention that Calochortus 'Golden Orb' did not survive even one
winter in another bed, one in which C. superbus is growing still.
A single spindly seedling of C. marcocarpus might have survived last winter
in the top of the rock garden, but if so its single leaf has already faded
away for the season.
