Our state fair display this year will include a fair number of beeswax
candles and we need you to pitch in with this effort. David Langham
has graciously agreed to bring his candle making skills and equipment
to the table for us on September 26th. We will be meeting at my shop
in Cedar Grove at 9 am and turning out all sorts of cool beeswax
gidgets. Please mark your calendar and plan to join us for this fun
and educational work.
If you have wax that you would be willing to donate to the cause, just
bring it with you on the 26th. If you can't make it but you would
like to chip in some wax, just let me know and I'll swing by and pick
it up (or bring it to the meeting on Sept 10th.
Next Sunday, August 30th, Cedar Grove will be doing a bit of an open
house. The Bee Works shop will be on the list of things to come and
see so come on out if you are able. We hope to be extracting a few
frames of honey, we'll have a nuc on hand for folks to dig in to,
we'll have an observation hive, we'll be letting folks taste some of
our real deal local honey (as well as some sourwood from Black
Mountain), and whatever else fun and exciting stuff we can figure
out. Also on the tour will be the Whitted Bowers Biodynamic Fruit
Farm, Anathoth Community Garden, boat rides on Lake Orange, Cedar
Grove Blueberry Farm, and about 10 other sites. For more info, see
Also...An updated version of the handout that Jennifer had at our
