#1 Graft onto a 1 year seedling apple tree.
#2 Graft onto mm-111 rootstock which will give you an apple tree 80% of 
standard or onto Alnarp2 which will give you a tree that is 90% of standard 
or onto m-13 which is considered 110% of standard.

When grafting onto a seedling tree you have to remember that each seedling 
will be a little different in vigor.

I have some seedlings that were seeds saved from Sweet Sixteen.  They are 
now 4 years old and are about 8 to 10 feet tall or more right now.
