[NAFEX] OT: One lonely chestnut tree

There are quite a few of the remains of blight killed trees that resprout
around us. Some develop enough to produce nuts. There are also quite a few
that grow from the nuts produced that the bears, deer and turkeys miss. And
yes, these are American chestnut, not Chinese and certainly not horse
chestnut. The ACF and others have some stands locally where they are
trying to breed for resistance in pure Americans.
As for the trees I referred to growing & fruiting, I've seen lots of them
that get 20 to 30 feet tall before getting killed off. They are persistent
and perhaps this may one day pay off with a naturally selected blight
resistant tree.
