Alan,
After getting 'burned' a few times - grafting before my frost-free 
date, and having grafts with vigorous new growth frozen out - I now 
try(it's hard to wait!!!) to wait until I'm reasonable sure we're not 
going to have any 'normal' late spring freezes before I do much in 
the way of grafting.
