Down here in SE Texas, we have a wild grape known as "Mustang" that
grows along the fence line on our property. It is a small berry in thin
clusters on an intrusive and hardy vine. They are too acrid to eat
right off the vine, and have thick skins and are full of hard seeds.

But, the juice from these grapes is quite good. We mix it with some
sugar and dilute it a bit with filtered water - tastes very good over
ice. The jelly made from the juice, is the best that I, and according
to others to whom we give away jars of it, have ever had. It has a very
dense "grapey" flavor. It took a while to work out the recipe, but now
we've got it. People look forward to our annual mustang grape jelly,
and we keep some gallons of the juice just for drinking.
