Doreen:
Factually I'm not sure about Pixie's ability to pollinate Ashmead.
My gut is that yes, it could as it blooms mid-late season and heavy. But
like all any other "new" variety, there isn't that much mileage with it
from anyone.
Sorry for no better response.
I hope this finds you enjoying the New Year.
Ed, So. Ohio, coolish......well burrrrrr.......

Subject: [NAFEX] Pollinator for Ashmead's Kernel
This is a question that Ed Fackler can probably answer. Is Pixie Crunch a
viable pollinator for Ashmead's Kernel? I already have the Ashmead's and
need an apple that will reliably pollinate it. I also have two mature
crabs, but I don't know when they bloom, as I bought my land in August. Do
you know of any other apple varieties that do well on Bud 9 that will
pollinate the late blooming Ashmead?
