Orville asked about Pinova:
Received a tree of Pinova 6 years ago because of an over shipment to a
local grower and I was asked to try it. Must say it is a very good apple
in our area which is a zone 4 to a 5 along the Lake Michigan border. It
has produced every year since it was put in , do not know what rootstock it
is on but is only about 7 feet tall and has not grown taller in the past 4
years. It produces nice tasting (crisp) apples and the nice part about
them is they store well for winter use. They are not a large apple, would
call them school boy type.

Am looking for a list of European pears that will store for a longer
period of time say a couple of months in the refrigerator. I had 6
different kinds from local nurseries and they did not store more than a
couple of weeks, then ripened right in the ref. and any grafts I have put
on are too young, have not produced yet. Where are scions available for
longer storage types?
What method is used to determine when a pear should be picked so it will
store longer and can any be tree ripened? Any help would be appreciated. Ray
