I would be very wary about drawing any conclusions about cultivar 
vigour from comparing a Tomcot on an unknown stock (which would 
probably most likely be a seedling apricot or peach stock if only 
because of their cheapness, and vigourous) and a Puget Gold on St. 
Julien A which is a semi-dwarfing stock.
