A web search showed in short order that Spain exports a quidzillion of
them, and the clementine marketing board is hopng soon to blitz the
supermarket nearest you with the little darlings.

I just read in the St Paul, Minn., Pioneer Press newspaper that the USDA has
banned import of clementines from Spain because of Med fly infestations.
Apparantly Med flies were found on some of the oranges in a few states, and
they are allowing the existing stocks to be sold in states that don't have a
citrus industry, but they aren't being sold in states that have citrus
trees.
The ban may be lifted if the fly problem is overcome, and the ban doesn't
affect Clementines from Israel. Some are also grown in California.
