One of the most important words in having horses is WHOA!
Lawrence, where can one obtain those calvary tie pins? Only problem I can see there is hitting them into rock or sand But then I guess we can always put the ($2500 )LOL!) or whatever price) saddle on the pin if one is into sand...and well, as for pins and rocks...I'm still using my saddle, it's a small price at any cost if trained right
I will throw my cowboy hat into the ring both on and off the trail over a helmet. I Prefer the brims shade and shock absorbing power over hitting the ground cold even with the helmet...whiplash is no more fun than a head njury and there can be years of complications from both. Learning to ride and dismount and a well trained horse are great peices of "equipment". If I had a $2500 saddle, I would not be using it for trail riding. But then, I don't come from the rich side of the tracks and will put my value into a better trained horse, just my preference and budget.
Lastly, am curious how you tie your leadline neck knots...can you send a diagram? Trail riding, I don't do anything fancy, usually just a square knot and a lope, but I am sure the calvary had a special way and good reasons why...
I'm looking for the calvary way.
