Night MSAR

In our group for the most part only the Hasty Team plus our Search Management Personnel are called
out for night searches. By first light we have all our ducks in a row and than bring in the Calvary.

>From experience I can say that night searches magnifie every problem. If you are only useing
one flash light you may do all right on foot but your searching ability is very limited while mounted.
While mounted I personally use a custom made lighting system which includes detachable Maglites
on each side of my saddle plus one in a sling around my shoulder and a mini maglite velcro straped
to my wrist. ( Which works great while tacking up or writing notes in the dark.)

  Subject: [MSAR] Night MSAR

I seem to recall a recent reference to a local MSAR unit not responding to many call-outs because many were night responses. While you can certainly ride at night, and perform MSAR at night, many riders (and their horses) aren't comfortable with this ... because they haven't trained for it.

So I'm curious - how many of you train for night response and DO respond to ride at night for SAR call-outs?
