A female monkey in Jhansi has been raising an orphaned kitten as her own.
"This is an outstanding instance of maternal bonding in the animal
world" - Professor Jyoti Verma

The unusual relationship has generated considerable curiosity in the
area, with crowds flocking to see the simian feeding her new 'baby'.

Professor Jyoti Verma said: "This is an outstanding instance of
maternal bonding in the animal world.

Animals sometimes shed their animus and ensure that the offspring of
other species are also well cared for."

Monkeys are highly revered by Hindus across India as the incarnation
of the god Hanuman.
