About the Jang AP1; I just purchased one from Mechanical Transplanter. If you buy one get it from them as they are the
most knowledgeable and helpful and are the distributor. They offer a different "shoe" that cuts the seed groove
so the seed can drop through the chute into the ground; this "shoe" is a pair of discs
and is a separate $79 investement. Its purpose it so keep the shoe from getting clogged in front with an accumulation of
trash so that the seed groove creation process gets disrupted and the groove becomes erratic in shape, i.e.
disfunctional. You do not need this accessory and can use the standard ploughshare-like "shoe", supplied with the
default model, if your dirt is relatively clean but will if it is not and contains dislodged weeds or crop residues. I
think you get the idea. The small Jang will do small seeds perfectly but the bigger Jand will not small seeds at all.
The hard plastic seed rollers are $20 apiece and you'll need six or more. Doing corn or beans is not perfect as it will
often drop two seeds into the ground instead of one. For this job you need their next size up Jang hand seeder, i.e. for
corn and beans and other big seeds. Either that or you'll need the Cole Planet Jr. I have the Planet Jr. sold by
Johnny's back when they were selling them new. Market Farm implement sells rebuilt/restored old Planet Jr.'s for about
$500 when they have them.

Johnny's told me that they did not think their European seeder was a wise purchase though it is built sturdy enough.
There are design flaws such as a broom of some sort used to stir the seeds in the hopper before delivery to the ground
and possibly other issues. They did not really recommend it. So I bought the Jang at over twice the money.
I do not have an evaluation of the Cole Planet Jr. compared to the larger Jang seeder for corn & beans so you'll have to
ask around or do your own research. The bigger Jang will not do small seeds but the smaller one excelles at this and lay
even be the best small planter for this though I do not know how it compares witht eh Cole Planet Jr. To get both Jang
planters to do the full array of seeds it will cost you twice the amount you'll pay for one Planet Jr. to do the same
array of seeds but this may ultimately be a much better investment. I would go this route myself if I did not already
have the Planet Jr.
