Hi Rivka. If you would like your own domain name (without wordpress or
blogger in it) I highly recommend getting the basic hosting package from
12Wonder Web Services. They have excellent online documentation and a real
person who answers questions that you can't find the answer to. I have used
various html editors, but when I recently upgraded Wordpress it bombed, and
in helping me out she found a very nice template, modified the colors a
little, and recommended I switch to the blog (which is included with the
hosting). I am in transition, waiting on a recommended book to figure out
how to change things around.
If you want to do the least technical stuff, choose one without a photo in
the header, like the http://tinyfarmblog.com that someone else recommended.
That way you don't have to figure out how to match the size and change the
header photo, which has not been intuitive.
The one am playing with now needs some work on text colors, and layout of
the "pages", but here is the link: http://rhomestead.com/wordpress/
It uses a template called "VegetableModified" by Ashish Sharma.
http://www.wordpressthemesbox.com/?s=vegetable&x=0&y=0 Changing the
background color wasn't hard. Now I need to come up with other seasonal
photos, and modify them with dark background???? I am not artistically
In the running still for my use are other free templates, findable from
Wordpress theme library: Vigilance, Default Enhanced, and Disciple. They
have a "feel" I like but will take modifying with other header photos.
Or a couple of these might do for you:
Now you've got me searching. Here is another:
Google "wordpress free themes garden vegetables" or whatever else you want
to search on.
If you have never done a web page, I suggest you either find a theme with
photo you like as is or choose one without a header photo. Of course, you
could also probably trade product for help.

Subject: [Market-farming] Recommendations for web / blog pages?
Hi all --
We're considering getting a farm web page, possibly through a blogging
site; and are curious as to this group's recommendations. Right now
we're looking at Wordpress as the host, but might be open to other
suggestions. If we're going with wordpress, we need to pick a theme,
and would appreciate suggestions there also.
I'd like to have some but limited pictures on the opening page (many
of our customers are likely to be on dialup), but be able to have some
pictures on the inside pages also.
Thanks in advance,
