[Market-farming] Farmers Market Vendor Fees

My market charges an annual fee of $50 to $150 (depending on your
annual gross receipts at the market) than they charge $5 a week per
spot (12' x 8'). Vendors are responsible for their own insurance. the
market runs from may until Mid November. Nov through April we have a
winter market the 3rd Sat of the month and are charged $5.

I believe craft vendors are charged $7 and do not have to pay the
annual fee (which I think sucks-they should be paying at least $25 a
spot per week (considering most pay $400+ to do a week end craft
show) and have to pay an annual fee as well. as it is those of us who
have larger farms pay more than the crafter/artisan folks and that
ain't right. of course I don't think a FARMERS market should have
crafts, but that is my opinion and not that of the market board and I
was handily voted down about this when I sat on that board.
