It may be poor marketing to charge directly for delivery. I typically
drive 60-100 miles on delivery routes; it takes me 2-4 hours. OUR
vehicle costs are down to about $.10-$.15 per mile. $10/hour is enough
to cost for a driver, I think. So, as much as $60 for a trip. I don't
directly charge for delivery, but I don't like to make a trip for $200
in sales. $300-$500 is more the norm. Whenever possible, I make my
trips multi-purpose: wife going to work or "I've got a doctor's
appointment, what can I sell in that area?"
