[Market-farming] Fedco etc.

I'm the friend of Wyatt's that has had a lot of sports/mistakes from
Fedco. Last year it was the Even Star kale that was supposed to be
Dinosaur kale. Also have had several other brassica problems over the
years-broccoli raab that turned out to be daikon, acorn squashes that
were not the variety expected, etc. All that said, I still order a
couple hundred dollars worth of seed each year from them and I really
like the company. Most every mistake they have sent us has been
sellable in the end and they are great about making good on mistakes.
I love their politics and the aversion to all things Monsanto and GMO
and they fact they do buy from small farms. That there will get an
order from me even if it is imperfect

I am wondering if many of the mistakes have been caused by the fact
we have been ordering via a co-op. A group of us get together pool
our order and get the big discounts but that means Fedco than sends
all the seeds to the coordinator who than repacks the the seed
packets. The errors could have been from that, though I don't think
so as the packets all seemed correct-it was the contents that were
wrong on occasion. This year we did not go through the co-op and did
an individual order so we can get our seeds in January and not mid to
late Feb. So perhaps the order will be 100% correct this year.
