If you go to Gempler's site and look for sprayers, you can find a comparison sheet. In there, are Birchmeier sprayers with external piston pumps. They cost about 2 1/2 to 3 times what a Solo costs. Can one expect the external pump to handle wettable powders like Surround?

Hand pump preasure sprayers have been a bug-a-boo with me since the old man
handed me one in 1954, never thought I was doing much but sprinkling the
target. SO, I got a Solo blower with a gas engine and was much happier,
especially in the greenhouse where hitting a hanging basket on one side and
then on the other turned them for a full circle, and working from the bottom
I always had the undersides of the leaves sprayed. That unit was also
excellent for pollinating tomatoes has fast as you can walk down a row.

A guy near here had one of them catch fire in use, and I cut way back on
areas to be done, so I have never replaced the last one I had, but given a
half acres of something needing lots of spray and I would have one in a
heart beat. Just remembering that that gas tank behind my ears is good place
for serious maintainance!
