[Market-farming] Planting Sweet Potatoes

I just got my slips today and will plant them tomorrow.
I'm in the mid-Atlantic, near DC.
Temps have been in the 90s recently and, at best, will be in the 80's
for the next many months.
Is there any soil temp related reason why I should plant the sweet
potates on black plastic?
We usually get good enough weed suppression from the spud leaves that
I don't worry about that.
But things I've read recently make me think that MAYBE I should be
providing more soil heat.
What do you think
