[Market-farming] How do you Determind Your Prices for the Farmers Market

Prices for your area may and probably will different from other parts of the 
country.  I our markets we have Green Bean as cheat as 1.50 a pound to our 
prices of $4.00 and we usually sell out every week.  We figure our cost of 
production including picking and go with a price we feel we need to make the profit 
we desire.  I very seldom walk around the market and compare prices, what one 
vendor wants for is product that he grows is his concern not mine.  We sell at 
above high end grocery store prices and if it doesn't sell I give the 
remaining product to the local homeless shelters.  Some times growers seem to forget 
that we have control over our prices and the product that we are selling is at 
least 2000 miles less shipping that what you find in the grocery stores, and 
with 40%of the items in the store is imported so fresh local produce is really 
totally under valued.
