Prices for your area may and probably will different from other parts of the
country. I our markets we have Green Bean as cheat as 1.50 a pound to our
prices of $4.00 and we usually sell out every week. We figure our cost of
production including picking and go with a price we feel we need to make the profit
we desire. I very seldom walk around the market and compare prices, what one
vendor wants for is product that he grows is his concern not mine. We sell at
above high end grocery store prices and if it doesn't sell I give the
remaining product to the local homeless shelters. Some times growers seem to forget
that we have control over our prices and the product that we are selling is at
least 2000 miles less shipping that what you find in the grocery stores, and
with 40%of the items in the store is imported so fresh local produce is really
totally under valued.
