Go west, young man, and get thy arse to DENVER!! Seriously, Austin,
Phoenix and Albuquerque are all good, but they're all HOT ... Denver has a
much milder clime, but while it's hot in the summer, it's also dry, which
(I found) was a much better match than NC's hot-n-sticky. As a bonus, in
the winter the snow doesn't stick around for long, and when it gets deep
they know how to plow.
Denver's mass transit is somewhat weak, but it's serviceable for most
places in Denver proper. I found it somewhat useless in the suburbs,
though, unless I was commuting into downtown.
Boulder is nice, but the winters are worse (higher elevation than Denver).
Good (hypothetical) luck,
