ahh... i read that Jack Ryan was his competition and didn't connect that
with the fellow that withdrew from a senate race because his divorce got
splattered on the front page.  my Trek creds are revoked... that's Jeri
Ryan's ex.

he still isn't a senator until after the election.  i don't know Illinois
laws, but the state GOP might still be able to put someone on the ballot.
