Well, half the stuff 'reported' about her turned out to be false. Big
surprise there. I'm amazed that so many people fell for the old 'throw
everything and see what sticks' political ploy, but they did, and it
worked well for the Dems, so I think we will see more of it in the
future. The Palins have been forced to spend millions to defend
themselves against all kinds of allegations, none of which were proven
to be true. Don't the Dems realize that they are making a martyr of her
in some circles?? They need to just leave it alone and let her fade in
to the snowy background. I wouldn't vote for Palin for President, but I
think she's gotten a bum wrap over the last year. That's the price of
politics, but still, kids should be off limits. I've watched and been a
fan of David Letterman since the 80's but no more. I realize that this
most recent incident is from a writer not doing his research, but the
fact that the election is over, 6 months gone, and he is still making
jokes at the children's expense, well, that did it for me. My heart
also goes out to Elizabeth Edwards and Jenny Sanford, especially
Elizabeth as she had enough on her plate without John's shenanigans. I
just think that a politician's family-especially children- should be
left out of the fray, personal conflicts should be just that, personal,
unless they are in politics themselves (like the Doles) or they become
POTUS. If that happens, yeah, I want to know what seances are held in
the White House, or who is really pulling the weeds in the Obama
garden.<g> My problem I suppose is just that there doesn't seem to be
any decency anymore-it's all about ratings or selling the story.
Michael Jackson isn't even in the ground yet, and his father is calling
it Murder and talking about the Jackson 3 going on tour. I blame the
media for a general decline in ethics and morality that we see in this
country.
