That could be the foundation of the true problem. Introduced species may 
thrive, but often succumb to something in the end. A friend of mine here 
had a nursery 20 years ago and imported Afghan pines, which all did well 
in our similar climate...that is until recently. Almost every yard 
around here has one or two dead ones, all put in 20 years ago. Nobody 
knows what did them all in. Our area had native cherry trees once but 
they all succumbed to the German immigrant furniture makers at the turn 
of the century.
