"Analysts envision a time when the system will be used to identify and track
every item produced on the planet. 5"

Well. they'd better stay out of my litterbox. What's produced in there is
not worth tracking..
This concept has been around awhile. There was a series of TV commercials
several years ago depicting a young 'punk' strolling (read 'swaggering')
through the mini-mart, and gathering up items, and simply walking out the door.
When he passed the scanner, all the items were automatically deducted from his
acoount.

Where the day seems to be winding down unusually fast. I'm looking to my
right, directly South, at the dead pine that has somehow managed to hang onto
all her cones, and she is all crooked, bent by the west-prevailing winds and
cooked into place by the sun and dehydration. I wonder if I nurtured some of
those cones...? She is about 40 feet away, leaning to the left, and at her base
there are native shrubs and bushes and that's where I see the rabbits
scurry, always followed by a fleeting winged shadow from overhead.

Landlord here - he is a good friend and bless his heart - is not aware that
some of his irrigation pipe has sprung a leak and been watering those plants
since I've been here. I'm not telling him.

Consumer marketing applications will decimate privacy
"Radio frequency is another technology that supermarkets are already using
in a number of places throughout the store. We now envision a day where
consumers will walk into a store, select products whose packages are embedded with
small radio frequency UPC codes, and exit the store without ever going
through a checkout line or signing their name on a dotted line." 28 - Jacki
