Shoppers rushed Houston grocery stores Thursday afternoon, searching
for water, batteries, peanut butter and beer.
What about tuna and vienna sausages? Those always went fast where I worked.
Inside, the crowds moved from the wine and beer aisles - mountains of
booze were disappearing fast - to the shelves filled with bread. The
white stuff was long gone, leaving rows of brown, grainy loaves.
Everybody knows that brown, grainy loaves are healthy and have less preservatives. People do love their wonder bread with it's formaldehyde
aroma. :) What does it say about the economy when beer and wine are the first things to go?
Akka, grateful for the change of pace
