[Homestead] Enjoy the quiet while it lasts...

This just doesn't shock me.  I live in the Bible belt and I hear stuff like this at least once a week from all kinds of people: co-workers, officials, restaurant owners, hairdressers, neighbors, etc. etc.  I think those of you who don't live in the heart of the rural South don't quite realize how many people claim that God(their Christian God, usually Jesus) talks to them, literally. Those of us non-believers and doubters just let it go.  That's respect and tolerance and fear; we are the minority here..
If you (not you personally, Lynda) think Bush is crazy or hallucinating you should realize that there are just as many people, if not more, who believe that he was indeed getting direction from God.  After all, they pray for God to guide him like that multiple times a week.  The story you just told about God giving him directions strengthens not only their faith, but their support of the President.  This is why Bush still has 1 out of 3 people thinking favorably of him.  It's all about perspective.

Akka, one man's freedom fighter is another man's terrorist...

Bush said he heard god talk to him and tell him what to do as he was walking
outside in the driveway, if I remember correctly, of the White House. He
went on to describe the "exact words" god used to tell him what to
do.

Of course, lots of ex-druggie/dry alcoholics hear voices, so he probably
did. Auditory hullucinations aren't all the uncommon for them.
