Read Thomas Frank's _What's the Matter With Kansas_. It explains in
painful detail how the fundamentalist Christians overtook a moderate
Republican party. You go to local party meetings, preferably with a
friend or two who agrees with you, and you influence the group from
there. The Democrats have finally taken that lesson to heart, and if
Democrats win, it will be because of a good ground game and local
participation. It doesn't matter which party you pick, but staying at
home and whining won't affect anything, and I doubt that a bunch of
whiners will take to the streets.
