Gads! 'Deo Vindice' is the motto of the CSA. It is usually rendered "God
will vindicate" but 'Deo' is in the dative case so a better rendering would be
'With God (or by God!), it vindicates. 'It' here probably being the CSA itself.

It's working quite well. The entire War for Southern Independence was
essentially about federalism. That's why the new country was called a confederacy,
that is, a loosely joined group of self-governing states. The power and
intervention of a strong federal goverment was what was being rejected. And by
extension a philosophy that state and local governments should be endowed by the
people with as little right to interfer with their lives as possible.

If you are not a WfSI buff, then you might not be aware that the now days
popular Confederate naval and battle flag (and then for only some units), the
Stars and Bars, was NOT the flag of the CSA. Rather the flag was a solid blue
background with a single white star. The real cause was reflected in one of
the most popular songs of the time, 'The Bonnie Blue Flag'

"We are a band of brothers and native to the soil
Fighting for our Liberty, With treasure, blood and toil
And when our rights were threatened, the cry rose near and far
Hurrah for the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a single star!
....
Hurrah! Hurrah!
For Southern rights, hurrah!
Hurrah for the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a single star.?

So to answer your question, I stand today unencumbered by the heinous blight
of federalism and government intervention as any man drawing breath. That's
my status of unreconstructed.

And it's quite relaxing, thank you. So much so I might live to be 110.

And, oh, ........ Deo Vindice!
