Well, I was being funny, but it's a good idea. Having so many animals in a
given area that you can't safely spread the manure is a BAD idea. Some
states (like PA) require CAFOs (confined animal feeding operations) to have
a manure mangement plan, based on real numbers...how much is optimal to put
on the land, and what you will do with the rest. If they find it running off
into a stream, you are in serious trouble. Some states, like Maryland, don't
have (or don't enforce) these kinds of laws, which is why they have so much
chicken manure causing problems.
