I extrapolated from my own observation.
My friends and neighbors work in not only my town, but in surrounding
towns as far away as Chattanooga and the Atlanta suburbs. DH told me
that certain people he works with(he named them-Rocky among them) did
not show up for work. When he went to lunch, he noticed that there
weren't many blacks in the restaurant-either working or eating. I took
it upon myself to ask my friends/neighbors if they were seeing anything
similar. They did. My best friend's husband is a plant manager, and
I'm not sure how many blacks he employs, but he said only one person
came to work yesterday, and that many were apparently under the belief
that Obama would save them. Another neighbor went to town and said the
lines were long at the bank-people withdrawing money, and it was made
worse because apparently some of the tellers were missing.
If this involved hundreds if not thousands of blacks in my local area,
then I extrapolated and upsized for the country. Maybe I should not
have done that, but I felt like if it is happening here, in this podunk
town and surrounding area, and I can see that people feel the same
way(from the news and you tube)in other places, then it must be
happening there, too. I haven't spoken with Rocky. I did assume that
that is the reason he was out.
