Van Dell, let me propose a puzzle for you. You are contaced by radio
(voice) by a race of people from another planet. You know nothing about them (or
they you) except that you are both humanoid.

Explain to them which is their left hand.

This is what it is like trying to explain to someone operating from an
indoctrination what it is like to not be indoctrinated.

Without more common experience between us, it cannot be done.

Now I have several degrees in education (misspent, youth, that). I taught in
this or that school for thirteen years, everything from Headstart to collage
classes. There is no phase of education and schooling in which I have not
been thoroughly stewed and marinated.

But now I have a houseful of unschooled children, many more unschooled
acquaintances, I have studied the history and advent of schooling, and I participate
in the wider world of unschooled thought throug the internet and other
resources.

Now for us to compare the two, to have a discussion among us, where is your
experience with the unschooled? If you can't even identify what it is, how can
you propose to critique it? </HTML>
