[Homestead] Do You Love Your Community?

It is 50 miles for me to drive over the mountains to Asheville. I guess I am talking about going that far as "out of town". When you live in the sticks that is not very far, but of course it is now with gas at $3.10 a gallon! It is very enjoyable to "stay put", but I do like to visit friends too.

But if you want land, take dollars. I did a little real estate search,
put in $200,000 as max price. Found ten acres of woods fronting on a
pretty stream. Almost every listing I found was a subdivided lot of .
45 acre up to an acre. This is not homestead territory unless you get
  far from town.
