How many mice in a family?

I don't know,,,, but I had a problem with rats in the barn.  And while the cats were super at hunting them every night as they snuck into the feed room, but at one point the situation was clearly getting out of control - not too long after the neighbors dogs hunted and killed my cats.

I finally resorted to Decon.......... OMG........ once they finally went for the bait, there were nearly a hundred - all over, inside and out dead.  They climbed up into the engine area in the front end loader, inside the glove compartment of my truck, up in the ceiling under hay bales, all over the yard.  I was stunned. Big ones, little ones.  The worst was getting the smell of the dead daddy rat out of the truck...............

Thanks Roxann and James for some thought provoking stuff on the word meek..
As I wrote that yesterday, in the quiet of the house, I was listening to
a mouse under the kitchen sink, and thinking about mice and how
ubiquitious they are in life and literature. They are meek, they are
bold, quiet, noisy,...etc. Our thinking on mice really reflects a
dichotomy...house mouse, field mouse...etc. etc.
So I was in this train of thought about mice when I thought of the word
meek and that quote free associated out of that. I wasn't really
thinking about Jesus at all(sorry), just wondering if the damn mice were
going to win the war I am waging on them and take over the freaking world.

You live in the country, you deal with mice..I don't know anyone who
doesn't...I usually catch a mouse or two when the seasons change, maybe
three a year..I keep mousetraps set all the time...one in the pantry,
one near the water heater, one under the sink. BUT just in the last
month, we have caught eight, two about a month ago, and 6 in the last 4
days. I am listening to another mouse as I type now. They are somehow
coming in under the kitchen sink, following the pipes through the
openings. The space under the house is less than a foot there, so it
would be an easy jump from the ground in the crawlspace to the pipes.
It is like a parade of mice..I have caught what I think is the entire
family..must be another juvenile in there, though..how many mice live in
a colony or mischief or whatever it is called? To fix the hole(s), we
will have to remove the plumbing and the cabinet...not an easy task, so
for now, at least until the weekend, I am dealing with freaking mice in
the house. There is nothing to eat under the sink, so I have no idea of
why they are there. I haven't found them anywhere else, but in looking
around for holes and poop, I did see a chewed phone line...no wonder the
damn bedroom phone was so staticy...(fixed now).
